Saltiness is one of the basic human tastes. Salt is primarily composed of sodium chloride (NaCl), which could make food tastier. Sodium is also an essential element for all animals and some plants.

problem statement
There is no ideal way to track and control sodium daily intake, especially for ones who need low sodium diet.
In order to understand the needs of people for the control of sodium, I interviewed some targeted people. The results show that there is a need to control sodium intake, but the current approach is often cumbersome and unpleasant.

methods to track sodium intake
To design for a person in need of tracking sodium daily, I made a persona who's diet is based on eating out, cooking home and snacks.
mind map
After some ideation, the best solution I can find is to use devices such as snack jars, cruets to track the usage of sodium, together with data of the food nutrition from internet. At the same time we can use an APP to get nutrition facts about snacks we buy in groceries and food we pay in restaurants, which need a system of food data provided by food retailers. and the app will calculate and analyse our daily sodium intake.
